Hello,

Josh Berkus has requested a grant from PgUS for sponsorship of the
release party you guys are planning. The standards in which PgUS
supports PUGS are fairly lax:

https://www.postgresql.us/node/116

However, there is one minor sticking point that is holding up approval.

* The User Group member requesting reimbursement must be a United States
PostgreSQL Member.

If there is an SFPUG member that is willing to become a PgUS member,
PgUS will happily sponsor the release party.

https://www.postgresql.us/join

Sincerely,

Joshua D. Drake

I am a PgUS member and regularly attend SFPUG. Is there something I can do to help?

Are there any students on this list who'd like a free PgUS membership? I'll
pick up the tab... get back to me.

Just say that you support our proposal for party funds for a pre-release
party on the 17th.

I hereby support the proposal for the party funds for a pre-release party on the 17th.

I've seen this type of event from SFPUG and its organizers in the past and I find that they are truly beneficial in maintaining the cohesiveness of the Bay Area PostgreSQL community. In addition these events provide an informal venue for newcomers to PostgreSQL to interact with their more established peers.

Mr. Drake: If you need any sort of membership info, etc. let me know off list and I'll be happy to provide any details.

Thanks,
Steve

Based on Steve's sponsorship of the request, PgUS is happy to sponsor
your release party.

Great! Let me know if there's a statement you want read at the event,
or if I should just make something up. Does pg.US have any graphics we
could use for a sign?

Also, what's the plan on t-shirts?

Something that says, "Thanks to PgUS for supporting us" would be
appreciated. We obviously want people to know that PgUS is actually
doing stuff.

We don't have anything (graphic wise) that would identify us outside
of .Org.

Need the design from you.
