Folks,
Well, it's time for us to have another meeting. I'd hoped that we could send
a delegation to a BALUG meeting, but I can't get anyone there to return my
e-mail. If any of you know a BALUG organizer, please give them a holler.
BTW, David & David -- what if we sent a group to the other SFPUG in the new
year? Would the Perl hackers want to hear about PostgreSQL?
OK, the meeting: next meeting should, by rotation, be at Casa Donde in
Oakland. Of course, this depends on our ability to carpool from BART, but
we did it before so I think we can do it again.
Meeting will be: 6:30-7:30 eating, 7:30-9pm meeting. I suggest doing a "pot
luck" as Casa Donde has ample space & kitchen facilities.
Topics discussed at the meeting may include any or all of the following:
1) Yet Even More New Stuff For 7.4 -- Stephan Szabo & me
2) "Building the PostgreSQL Function CPAN" starring Elein, Rich, & me.
3) Data-push and Set-returning functions as an API: my presentation from
PHPCon, with the PHP stuff downplayed;
4) Maybe David Wheeler could present on the data structure of Bricolage, since
we've seen the front end ....
5) Other suggestions?
Please mark what dates work for you. As always, mark "A" for Preferred, "B"
for "OK but not preferred", and "N" for "Cannot attend"

That's odd that they're not getting back to you--whom have you emailed
there? I know they were looking for speakers recently, too.

Unfortunately, I think all dates are B or N for me right now, as my wife
could give birth Any Day Now (TM), so I'm busy prepping my work so I
can take time off, and can't really plan beyond a day or two. :)

They're in, for sure. We could do some kind of presentation
there--I'm voting for any of 1-5 below, 2, 3, 5, 4, 1 in order of
preference.

How 'bout hanging out w/the SF Perl UG (<http://sf.pm.org>)? They'd
be happy to meet us, and if somebody has a presentation ready to go,
they'd be happier yet. :)

i can second that... there's some crossover between the two

Yeah, I'm down with that.
Matt, you want to tell Quinn, or should I?

People:
I don't think we're going to have a November/December meeting if it's up to me
to organize it. For one thing, I don't think that I could *attend* any
meeting before the holidays. Sorry!
We're tentatively scheduled to join the Perl User's Group at their meeting in
January. Do we want to have our own meeting, as well?

Keep us up to date on the status of the Perl joint
meeting.
I think we are due for our own meeting as well. It
could wait until February, I suppose, but we'll need
to actually meet.
Topics for sfpug meeting per previous mail:
- PgScripts (elein, rich, josh)
- 7.4 Stephan Szabo, Josh
- Data-push/set-returning functions using PHP (josh, phpcon material)
- Bricolage data structures (wheeler)
- (new) Resource survey and call for articles (elein)

Sounds like a good idea.
