DBA Job Description
Responsibilities
* Ensure database availability 24/7 via on-call pager rotation.
* Work closely with software engineers to ensure availability and
integrity.
* Implement, document and update procedures and processes.
* Database Infrastructure Design.
* Create and load both production and development databases
* Design and implement backup and restore procedures
* Work with software engineers and database architect to create
necessary stored procedures and triggers
* Work with software engineers and database architect on database
optimization stratagies.
Required skills and experience
* BA/BS in Computer Science or related field.
* 5+ years of hands on experience with MySQL or Postgres.
* 3 years of MySQL or Postgres DBA experience
* Experience with highly available database implementations.
* Ability to work cooperatively with software engineers and system
administrators.
* Expert knowledge in database architecture, design and performance
tuning.
* Experience in setting up database replication, backup and
monitoring.
* Attention to detail and documentation skills.
* Solid English written and verbal communication skills.
