we are deploying on CentOS 6 64bit, postgresql 9.2.latest, Java 7, and
so forth.
whats the status of pljava on this? the wiki still talks about using
JDK 5 to compile and you can run with JDK 6 ? What about 7?
the release notes for 1.4.3 says it works on 9.1, what about 9.2 (or
9.3)? do I have to run the cvs snapshot?

Hi John,
I don't remember specifics, but i am currently running 9.2.2 with pljava-snapshot.20120525.0, openjdk6 on FreeBSD 9.1-RELEASE amd64 without issues.
I guess you won't have any problem with your combination.

ok, thanks, I'll build it and set it up tomorrow. I've done this
before, (on AIX and Solaris, eek), but not in ages...
glad to see this list is still alive, I noted from the archives that
there's been more spam than actual messages since July.

That was our consideration as well. It's a pity since this is a fantastic package, and with a little refactoring one may transfer much of the back end code, down to trigger level, without the need to
re-write in plpgsql, C, etc..
Lets hope this project will carry on.

Community projects don't carry on without interested community members
contributing their time and effort, or funding others to do so.
Right now neither is really happening with PL/Java. There are users out
there, but they're not helping maintain it, or they're doing so in
provate branches they don't publish.
(Note that I'm not fishing for work here - I've got too much to do
already and while I've worked with Java a lot I haven't done much with
JNI and embedding).

Hi Achilleas,
Thanks for your kind words. I'm the founder and original author of PL/Java and I would of course like it very much if
the project remained vital. My perception today is that there are many users and many of them have great ideas on how
the project could be made better. Very few however, choose to contribute. Recently, I tried to make it easier to
contribute by moving the project to Git and some good stuff came from that. The project is alive although it is moving
forward at a very slow pace.
If you want improvements to the project, then please submit pull-requests. They will be considered and if they move the
project forward, they will be accepted.

I'd like to be more of an active contributor Thomas, but my skills lie
elsewhere. Please accept my thanks for this excellent project, though.
