Is anyone on this list from the San Jose area, or works there?

We need to find a location for the pgDay San Jose after-party. it:

1) Should be as close to the San Jose Convention Center as possible

2) Be available for booking from 7pm to 9pm

3) Should accomodate a flexible 50 to 100 people, which means something
stand-up and no sit-down dinner.

4) Would allow us to buy some reasonable combination of
drinks/finger-food for a total of $1000, including any reservation charges.

Please, help, I don't know central San Jose at all.

I am local and can recommend a few places, no idea on pricing though:

1. The Fairmont - http://www.fairmont.com/sanjose/

2. The Sainte Claire - http://www.thesainteclaire.com/

3. Original Joe's - http://www.originaljoes.com/ - pretty sure they
have a larger meeting area someplace in the resturant

Those are ones off the top of my head, if you need more let me know.

I doubt we could afford either of these.

Hmmm ... how close is that to the convention center? Looks promising.

Although it depends on how they price hors d'oevers.

If you could find any pubs near the convention center, that would be
great. Yelp is kind of sketcy on the downtown area.

One place that comes to mind- close to SJSU, probably 20 mins from the
convention center. There should be a few other places like this in the
area:

I am not a pub guy but I have heard good thing about O'Flaherty's - http://www.oflahertyspub.com/
there is also Gordon Biersch - http://www.gordonbiersch.com/ both of
those are a little bit of a walk but if the weather is nice it won't
be that big of a deal. Agenda is the closest place but not what I
would call a pub exactl - http://www.agendalounge.com/agendalounge.html

All of these are listed on this map - http://maps.google.com/maps?q=san%20jose%20english%20pub&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=utf-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wl

The convention center is that big grey building near the corner of
Market and San Carlos.

Ok, if I inquire on their booking arrangements, can you actually check
any of these out in person?

Sure I have been to Gordon Biersch before it is nice and big with some
outdoor space as well, it is great for a gathering of this type. If
you need me to check out the others I can do that as well.

Tied House in San Jose should be considered as another viable pub
option. Has more space, can be quieter (Gordon Biersch has concrete
floors and sound echos well) and are used to large groups. -sc

Ok, cool. How far is it from the convention center?

We'll get 3x as many people if we can find something walking distance,
or close enough that one of us can bring a minivan and act as a shuttle.

N/M, I checked, it's an easy walk. Tied House looks *perfect*. I'll
call them next week to negotiate a package. I may ask one of you to
drop by and look at the space before it's final, though.
